Welcome to the EMBRACE Journey Blog

A Healing Space for Grief, Growth, and Becoming

"You were never broken. You were becoming."

— Jan Davidson
If you are grieving, rebuilding, healing, or learning how to begin again, this space was created with you in mind. The EMBRACE Journey Blog is a place for honest reflection, practical tools, and encouragement for the road ahead.

I have been thinking about starting this blog for a while now.

Not because the world needs another blog — there are plenty of those — but because the conversations I have been having lately deserve a bigger room.

A room for grief.

A room for growth.

A room for honesty.

A room for people who are trying to heal, rebuild, and become.

And if you are here, I believe there may be something in this space for you too.

The EMBRACE Model did not begin in a classroom or a research lab. It began in one of the hardest seasons of my life.

In October 2018, I lost my mother to dementia. I watched the woman who raised me slowly become someone I had to learn all over again — and then I had to learn how to let her go.

That kind of loss changes you.

And here is the honest part: I am a counselor. I am a grief specialist. I have sat with hundreds of people in some of their darkest hours and helped them find their way through.

But when it was my turn, all those tools felt heavy. Clinical. Complicated. Too much.

I needed something simpler.

Something gentle.

Something practical.

Something that could meet me where I actually was — not where a textbook said I should be.

That is where EMBRACE was born.

I created the EMBRACE Model for myself first. It became a seven-stage journey: Evaluate, Maintain, Balance, Reach-Out/Release, Action, Connect/Commit, and Empower.

Each stage is grounded in real evidence, but also in real life.

Then I started sharing it with clients. With groups. With workshop participants. With people who came in carrying grief, anxiety, self-doubt, transition, and that quiet "stuck" feeling so many of us know.

And something beautiful happened.

It helped.

Not because it was perfect, but because it was honest.

This blog is an extension of that honesty.

Here, I will share what I am learning, what I am still figuring out, and the stories that keep me going. You will find practical tools you can use right now — not someday, not when life is less messy, not when you finally feel "ready."

Because here is what I believe with my whole heart:
You do not have to be ready. You just have to be willing.

Some posts will be about grief. Some will be about anxiety, self-doubt, healing, boundaries, identity, purpose, and learning how to begin again.

Some will be about the small victories — the ones nobody sees but you.

All of them will be real.

If you have picked up the workbook, this blog will serve as a companion along the way. If you have not, that is okay too. You do not need a workbook to belong here.

You just need to be someone who is navigating life — the hills, the valleys, and everything in between.

So welcome.

I am glad you are here.

Let's walk this road together — not perfectly, but honestly.

One step.

One page.

One breath at a time.

Progress, not perfection.

If this post encouraged you, I invite you to share it with someone who needs to be reminded that they are not broken — they are becoming.

Beside you on the journey,
